About Us

'Italian Lives' was awarded funding by the Australian Research Council in 2003. The project is based at the University of Western Australia and commenced in late 2004.

The project will produce:

• a book about the Italian presence in Western Australia;
• a permanent archive of oral histories, images and documents hosted by the JS Battye Library of West Australian History;
• an educational and public outreach resource and display kit featuring Italian migrant stories (including a DVD) available for loan and online.

The project brings together researchers from the University of Western Australia and the Western Australian Museum with government, community and industry partners.
